The Snoqualmie Valley Trail is a gravel rider's paradise—a 31-mile rail-trail through the scenic Snoqualmie Valley, from Duvall to Rattlesnake Lake, with Cascade Mountain views and rural Pacific Northwest scenery.

Trail Overview

Built on the former Milwaukee Railroad corridor, the Snoqualmie Valley Trail is mostly gravel and dirt, with some paved sections near towns. It passes through farmland, forests, and the small towns of Carnation and Snoqualmie. The trail is mostly flat, making it perfect for gravel bikes and hybrids.

Route Options

You can ride the full 31 miles as a point-to-point (with a car shuttle), or do an out-and-back from one of the trailheads. A popular option is to start in Snoqualmie and ride north to Carnation and back—about 20 miles round trip. The trail connects to the Mountains to Sound Greenway and Rattlesnake Lake at the south end.

What to Bring

A gravel bike or mountain bike is ideal—the surface is gravel and dirt, so road bikes with thin tires will struggle. Bring water and food, as there are long stretches between towns. The trail is mostly exposed in farmland sections, so bring sun protection in summer and rain gear in winter.

Best Time to Ride

Spring and fall are ideal, with mild temperatures and beautiful scenery. Summer can be hot and exposed, while winter can be muddy. Check conditions before heading out, especially after heavy rain.
