Tiger Mountain is the Seattle area's premier mountain biking destination, offering over 50 miles of trails ranging from beginner-friendly gravel roads to expert-only descents. Just 30 minutes from downtown Seattle, it's the go-to spot for local mountain bikers.

Getting There

Tiger Mountain is located in Issaquah, about 30 minutes east of Seattle via I-90. The main trailhead is at the Tiger Mountain Trailhead parking lot off High Point Way. A Washington State Discover Pass is required for parking.

Best Trails for Mountain Biking

The Poo Poo Point trail is the classic ride—a steady climb through lush forest to a paraglider launch with panoramic valley views. The descent is fast, flowy, and incredibly fun. For intermediate riders, the Preston Railroad Grade trail offers a challenging climb and rewarding descent. Advanced riders should check out the Iverson Trail and Off the Grid, a purpose-built downhill trail.

Trail Conditions

Tiger Mountain trails can be muddy in the wet season (November–April). Check the Evergreen MTB Alliance trail conditions page before heading out. The DNR occasionally closes trails after heavy rain to prevent damage—respect these closures.

What to Bring

A full-suspension mountain bike is ideal, though a hardtail works for experienced riders. Bring plenty of water—the climbs are strenuous. Sturdy tires (2.3"+) are recommended for the rooty, rocky sections. Always wear a helmet and gloves.
